NGC 6946, sometimes referred to as the Fireworks Galaxy, is a face-on intermediate spiral galaxy with a small bright nucleus, whose location in the sky straddles the boundary between the northern constellations of Cepheus and Cygnus. Its distance from Earth is about 25.2 million light-years. This image consists of a total of 13hrs and 30min of exposure taken over two nights. This is made up of the following individual frames:
Lum 69 x 180s
Red 69 x 180s
Green 66 x 180s
Blue 66 x 180s
I took the images from my backyard observatory using an Astro-Tech AT130EDT telescope with a focal length 910mm. I used the ZWO ASI 294MM Pro camera and Antlia LRGB filters. All process using PixInsight.
