Flying Dragon Nebula
August 6, 2024
Sh2-114 is a super faint H2 emission nebula in Cygnus, whose form looks like the sweeping wings of a flying dragon! Other than this - not much more is known about this object. It is certainly not a common target for Astrophotography and is too faint for visual observation. This image consists of a total of 22hrs and 5min of exposure over 3 nights. This is made up of the following individual frames:
Red 39 x 60s
Green 39 x 60s
Blue 42 x 60s
Ha 128 x 240s
Sii 89 x 240s
I processed this image in the HSS pallet and integrated the RGB stars into the final image.
I took the images from my backyard observatory using an Astro-Tech AT130EDT telescope with a focal length 910mm. I used the ZWO ASI 294MM Pro camera and Antlia LRGB and Narrowband filters. All process using PixInsight.
