SH2-274 (also known as Medusa Nebula) is an planetary nebula in the constellation Gemini. The name 'Planetary Nebula' come from the fact that it is round in shape. It has nothing to do with being related to a planet other than its shape. The nebula was discovered by George A. Abell in 1955. It is approximately 21500 light years from Earth and is four light years in diameter.
The annotated image to the left shows other items of interest in the capture.
The image consists of 39 five minute exposures each of Sulpher II and Oxygen III, and 40 fivd minute exposures of Hydrogen-Alpha. The stars consist of 30 each of 30 second exposure of Red, Green and Blue. This is a total exposure of 10hours 35minutes. I processed the images using PixInsight and Adobe Photoshop software. I used my Astro-Tech AT130-EDT telescope, with a focal length of 910mm, a ZWO 2600MM astronomy camera, and Antlia RGB filters. I used the Orion Short-Tube 80 guide scope and ZWO 220MM Mini guide camera all atop the iOptron CEM70AW telescope mount.
