IC 342 (Captured 1/19/26)
IC 342 (aka the Hidden Galaxy) is an intermediate spiral galaxy in the constellation Camelopardalis. It was discovered by Frederick Denning in 1892. It is located behind some dusty lanes in the Milky Way which makes it difficult to observe, hence the nickname 'The Hidden Galaxy'.
The annotated image to the left shows other items of interest in the capture.
The image consists of 95 Luminance, 67 Red, 66 Green and 66 Blue two minute exposures plus 27 five minute Ha exposures for a total integration of 12 hours and 3 minutes. I processed the images using PixInsight and Adobe Photoshop software. I used my Astro-Tech AT130-EDT telescope, with a focal length of 910mm, a ZWO 2600MM astronomy camera, Antlia RGB and Antlia Ha filters . I used the Orion Short-Tube 80 guide scope and ZWO 220MM Mini guide camera all atop the iOptron CEM70AW telescope mount.
